Following the recent news that Starbooks have been announced as finalists in 2 categories at the 2018 ICB Luca Awards, Vicki Longmore (Starbooks MD) has spoken about her delight with the news and the importance of being not just a bookkeeper, but an ICB Bookkeeper…
Reaction to Nominations
This is fantastic news for us and a wonderful acknowledgement of a lot of hard work, working with great clients. We are very lucky to work with appreciative and receptive clients who have weathered the changes that have been thrust upon the profession and indeed business in recent years. From the advances in accounts software through the cloud and the adaptations to responsibilities in the way we report tax and financial matters our clients expect bookkeepers to guide them in their business decisions.
I am absolutely delighted that Starbooks has been recognised nationally for following the ideals of the ICB and astounded that we are the only bookkeeping practice south of Bristol to be acknowledged under our supervisory body in the category of Small Practice of the Year. We are also the only bookkeeping practice in the South West to be recognised with a representative presence on social media.
Attendance At The Awards Ceremony
We’re excited to confirm we will be in attendance at the awards ceremony on 26th November in London and I’d like to take this opportunity to wish all the other nominees from across the country the best of luck at the awards!
Not Just A Bookkeeper, an ICB Bookkeeper
I feel it’s important to promote the requirement for good quality support and guidance when engaging with a bookkeeper as they will be handling all your important accounting information. If you can’t do this yourself you need a knowledgeable and experienced bookkeeper to do this for you. Did you know that ICB exams have the highest pass levels of all the accounting bodies? This means when you engage an ICB Bookkeeper you can be sure they’ve earned their stripes!
I cannot advocate enough that a business with an ICB Bookkeeper on board will not regret its decision to engage. The value they add to any team in respect of managing your business accounting function will save you many headaches.
An ICB Bookkeeper’s professional journey is always a challenging one; Long gone are the days when bookkeepers were employed for data entry and crunching the numbers. We have to adopt many hats in our industry not least as: bean counters, trusted advisors, problem solvers, fixers, interpreters, educators, mediators, counsellors, mentors, colleagues and friends. However, we share a common goal with our clients and that is ‘To Get It Right’!
The Value of an ICB Bookkeeper
I would love for Starbooks to bring a Luca Award (or 2!) back to the South West and would encourage our ICB Student members to continue their studies with gusto and our newly qualified members to promote their valuable services to businesses in our region. Your skill and expertise is a very much sought after commodity. It has never been a better time to be an ICB Bookkeeper! Remember you are not just a bookkeeper. You’re an ICB Bookkeeper.
By working with forward thinking businesses we can all make a difference to the way modern business accounting is done.
